Joint Pain
Dr. Esparza uses non-surgical methods to ease pain and improve your quality of life.
About Joint Pain
Do you experience joint pain? Unfortunately, it becomes increasingly common as we get older. The natural degenerative processes of aging may cause bone spurs, “wear and tear” arthritis (osteoarthritis), cartilage deterioration and other conditions that cause pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints.
Joint dysfunction can also result from sport or other injuries, accident, or medical conditions.
Common sites for joint pain that Dr. Esparza treats include the hip joint and sacroiliac joint (which connects the sacrum with the iliac bones which form the pelvis. Inflammation in this joint causes low back pain and leg discomfort.)
Helping YOU help yourself with Joint Pain
Dr. Esparza’s goal is to diagnose your pain and create a treatment plan for your condition without surgery, using pain management techniques including medication. He is specially trained in minimally invasive procedures such as using injections to decrease inflammation, reduce pain and increase the joint’s function and mobility.
Like most physiatrists, Dr. Esparza oversees a team of caregivers who might include physical or occupational therapists as well as other healthcare providers.

Trigger Point Injections involve injecting medication directly into a knot of muscles to reduce pain and inflammation. Trigger point injections are also used to treat headaches and painful conditions such as fibromyalgia.
